Proper Dress Attire at Bank?
Is there a proper dress etiquette for going to the bank??
Sounds like a stupid question but today I went to the bank to withraw money after my I went to the gym. I had shorts on and an under armour long sleeve top that’s fits your upper body. I’m not overweight but I’m fit so I’m comfortable wearing the long sleeve but obviously people were staring at me.
In the gym, it’s acceptable. At the bank?? Is there an etiquette?
Maybe people were staring at your hot bod. Or you had sweat marks or something.
I say the only etiquette (if you are a chick, and I don’t know if you are or not!) is to wear a bra in public. Otherwise, who cares?

I don’t think gym shorts are proper street attire, for going to the bank or anywhere else that is not very casual (say, a gym).
There are dress shorts, but I don’t think that’s what you had on.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve seen people wear a lot worse in public places! Maybe they thought you looked good and were staring in amazement or envy.

I have never heard of dress etiquette for a customer. Obviously, you make a stop at the bank wearing whatever it is you happen to have on.
Banks get a lot of business people– who are a bit more dressed up– and, of course, the employees themselves are on the spiffy side. You may therefore have looked out of place.
It’s not like a restaurant.

If you’re just going to make a quick withdrawal from an ATM, your attire was fine, but actually being inside of the building calls for a bit more "etiquette".

In this day & age there’s no telling what exactly "is" proper etiquette. As long as you were comfortable, ignore what others think. When it’s in the low 30’s, I’m out in shorts,T-shirt and tennis shoes. Everyone else is bundled up.

I do not like seeing people dressed in gym clothes, pajamas, slippers, rollers in their hair, or have their bras straps OR UNDERWEAR showing in public, BUT what do I know. It seems people feel they are entitled to dress like slobs anytime and go anywhere they want to.

No. Usually they will see people who are in business to casual attire. All types go into banks just like the grocery store. And just like the grocery store you will see people who look like they’re just on their way somewhere else, from another planet, perfectly normal, and exposed enough to make you lose your appetite for just about everything in the store (especially cottage cheese) except the liquor.

east coast and west coast do differ . east coast people are more formal. if you live in northwest people are very casual. remember it only takes 90 seconds to form a personal opinion right or wrong. all the goodies always need to be covered where ever you go. don’t forget grime mud covered millionaires need to go to the bank to, in the old days yes everyone had a more conservative dress code.
